Susan Clark is a graduate of Monmouth University and Widener University School of Law. She practiced criminal law as a Monmouth County Assistant Prosecutor for over 12 years. Ms. Clark began her legal career in 1994 where she started in the Appellate section of the Prosecutor's Office.

Upon joining the Family section (Juvenile crime/Domestic violence) of the Prosecutor's office in 1995, Ms. Clark handled hundreds of juvenile cases ranging from drug charges to first degree Armed Robberies and Aggravated Sexual Assaults. Ms. Clark successfully represented the State at trial on many of these juvenile cases. She also tried a number of domestic violence restraining order violation cases and the often related weapons forfeiture cases before graduating to the felony trial division.

Initially, Ms. Clark spent only a brief time with the adult trial division before being promoted to the Sex Crimes/Child Abuse Unit in 1999 where she enjoyed almost immediate success prosecuting defendants for crimes such as Aggravated Sexual Assault and Endangering the Welfare of Children. She was also given the responsibility of handling homicide cases that included child deaths resulting from "shaken baby syndrome".

Upon her return to the Trial Division in 2002, Ms. Clark was promoted to Deputy Trial Team Leader and then Trial Team Leader of one of the three felony trial units. As a team leader, Ms. Clark was responsible for supervising and training five other Assistant Prosecutors. The training included teaching trial techniques to the less experienced members of her team.

For over twelve years, Susan Clark developed and perfected her trial skills while assisting the Prosecutor's office in training its young trial lawyers. She has successfully tried over 50 criminal jury trials and an equal number of juvenile trials.

Ms. Clark left the Prosecutor's Office in 2006 and became an adjunct professor at the Monmouth University Criminal Justice Department. During 2006 and 2007, Ms. Clark taught graduate level advanced criminal procedure and evidence law.
