Riggs has practiced law continuously in Shelbyville since March 1st, 1973.
The choice to become an attorney was an easy one for him. Riggs aspired to be a lawyer from the time he was a sophomore in college. He has always felt that being a lawyer is one of the highest callings. When asked what he enjoys about his profession, Riggs replied:
"Helping and representing people in their legal problems and advising them with their legal questions is very rewarding. Whether it's a probate case or a criminal case, it's very satisfying when you can help people through the hurdles that the law imposes."
The general practice in several fields of the law gives him the opportunity to help so many people in various situations.
Riggs is a regular jogger who also enjoys fishing and travel.
When he is not working on a case he is involved with one of his numerous volunteer endeavors, including the Rotary Club and other nonprofit organizations. He is also an active member of the Catholic Church here in Shelbyville. Riggs enjoys his involvement in the community that can only come from living in a small town.
Riggs has worked hard to build a successful law practice for over thirty years. He is very proud of the success the firm has seen. He is the father of Nathan Riggs, another lawyer in the firm.
Despite his success here in the firm, Riggs is able to focus on what is most important: the client. Says Riggs, "I've practiced law with the understanding that the client is always first."
