Questions & Answers
Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
Won a DWI case involving controlled substances (not alcohol). In this case, the State could not prove beyond a reasonable doubt how much controlled substances were in the body and therefore could not prove that my client was appreciable impaired at the time the client was operating a motor vehicle.
How did you build a successful practice?
I treat my clients the way I would like to be treated. I work hard to effectively respond to my clients. For example, I make it my office policy to get back with a client within 24 hours of a phone call or email from the client. Additionally, after each court date, I send my client a continuance or closing letter, making sure that they are informed throughout each step of their case. Finally, I work hard for my clients, researching the law, negotiating with the District Attorney's Office, and in some cases, going to trial to advocate for my clients and seek justice.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
Someone who is hard working, skilled and honest!
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
Extremely important. Being a local attorney for 12 years in Cabarrus County, gives me an advantage over outside counsel because I am familiar with the local practices and judges.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
The details of the citation or charge, what penalties can result from a conviction and how I may be able to assist them in avoiding or mitigating those consequences.
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?
The client's name, date of birth and phone number.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
Having worked as a former Assistant District Attorney in Cabarrus County and also having participated in Trial Training at the National Advocacy Center. (**At the time I attended, I was the only Assistant District Attorney selected from all of the Assistant District Attorneys across the State of North Carolina who applied).
- Knowledgable and Caring Paralegal/ Staff
- Client Correspondence letters sent after every court date
- Calls Returned within 24 hours
- Dependable, Thorough, and Experienced Professional
- Free Parking for Office Appointments
What are your other interests in addition to law?
Painting, playing basketball and enjoying time with my family at the beach.
Are you involved in your community?
I have served as the past President of the Cabarrus County Bar Association, on the board of the Teen Court and Mediation Board and yearly support the Boys and Girls Club of Cabarrus County and the Cabarrus County Arts Council. From 2004-2006, I served as as a council member and newsletter editor for the Sports and Entertainment Section of the NC Bar Association. I have also served as president of my neighborhood homeowners association.
