Harvey L. Cox has been practicing law in Texas since 1990 and has extensive experience working with families and businesses. He limits his practice to estate planning and asset protection planning. Harvey earned two Bachelor’s degrees, one from Dallas Bible College in 1983 and the other from Criswell College in 1987. Between those two degrees, Harvey did work on a Master’s of Theology degree at Dallas Theological Seminary. He left Dallas Seminary in 1987 to pursue a career in law, graduating from the University of Houston Law Center in 1989. (Yes, there is a story there but it’s way too long for this space so feel free to ask Harvey about it when you’re in the office or have him on the phone.) Harvey did return to his theological studies, completing a Master’s of Theology degree in December 2018 at Campbellsville University School of Theology. Harvey is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Bar College, and the Waco-McLennan County Bar Association. He is a recipient of the 2019 Martindale Hubbell “Distinguished” Peer Review Rating for High Professional Achievement. Harvey believes there is an incredible amount of misinformation, half-truths, and estate planning myths masquerading as truth. He battles against incorrect information daily. That’s why he devotes a significant amount of time conducting seminars in local churches, senior citizen centers, and in his office to educate Seniors on Texas Estate Planning issues. When Harvey is not in the office helping clients or teach Senior seminars, he teaches Business Law at McLennan Community College (MCC) in Waco, Texas. MCC also offers an extensive selection of Continuing Education classes to the public each semester. Harvey and his Senior Legal Assistant, Gary Hill, teach a six-hour Estate Planning and Asset Protection Planning Class for Seniors as part of the Continuing Education Program. Louis Cole attended Baylor University and graduated from the Baylor School of Law. He is currently a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Dallas Bar Association and is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, as well as the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals. During the course of his legal career, in addition to his many years in the private practice of law, he has been a member of the legal staff of a large corporation and also served as general counsel for another publicly traded company, as well as a corporation which was privately held. Additionally, Mr. Cole has represented clients in many facets of the commercial real estate business, including multi-family, retail, hotel and office development, financing, structuring business entities, negotiation and drafting of leases and other real estate related documents, acquisition and disposition of real estate, closing complex real estate transactions and even represented real estate clients in business related litigation. Scott C. Crutchfield is a Principal in GERMER PLLC’s Business section. His practice is primarily concentrated on representing Lenders and Borrowers in connection with HUD-Insured Loan transactions for the construction, refinancing and acquisition of Multifamily and Healthcare facilities under HUD’s various mortgage insurance programs, as well as property acquisitions and assumption of HUD-insured loans (“TPA’s”). Scott’s work in this area includes successful closings of numerous affordable transactions that combine HUD-insured financing, Low-Income Housing Tax Credits, Tax-Exempt Bonds and various types of local, state and federal subordinate loan elements. Geographically, approximately one-half to two-thirds of the transactions Scott has closed are through the Southwest Multifamily Region based in Fort Worth, with the remainder being spread across each of the other HUD Multifamily Regions. Additionally, Scott provides services to Borrowers under conventional commercial loan programs, including but not limited to those administered by Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae and USDA. Finally, Scott provides traditional business services to clients, including the sale, purchase or leasing of commercial property, entity formation and general services and advice.
