About Thomas
Thomas J. Giachino is currently practicing law as a specialist in liquor licensing and enforcement matters. He entered private practice in 1997 after retiring as an Assistant Attorney General for thirty years, the last twenty-three years representing the Michigan Liquor Control Commission. He possesses a great deal of the institutional knowledge of that state agency, and has been qualified as an expert both in state and federal proceedings involving legal matters of the alcoholic beverage industry.
In his practice, Mr. Giachino processes applications and transfers of liquor licenses, counsels on industry trade practices, and represents licensees in contested case enforcement proceedings and administrative appeals before the Liquor Control Commission.
He joined the Attorney General's office in 1967 and practiced administrative law until his retirement in 1997.
Mr. Giachino was a frequent guest speaker for the Michigan Municipal League and several bar group associations, and in 1997, he authored an article "Practicing before the Liquor Control Commission" as part of the Homeward Bound Series of the Real Property Law Section of the State Bar. He is a member of the Academy of Hospitality Industry Attorneys and a member of the National Licensed Beverage Association in Washington, D.C.
