Mr. Timothy Ferguson | Attorney

Timothy W. Ferguson is the founding member of the Southeast Texas law firm of Ferguson Firm with Texas offices located in Beaumont and Jasper. A board certified specialist in personal injury and civil trial law, Mr. Ferguson concentrates his practice upon plaintiffs' personal injury matters, including insurance denial claims, child injury incidents, serious commercial trucking accidents, Jones Act (seamen injuries), defective products claims, industrial incidents to class action litigation. Mr. Ferguson has actively been involved in complex commercial cases to successful conclusion. One of the ongoing beliefs of Ferguson Firm stems from the recognition that the best results are obtained after careful discovery completion coupled with a proven willingness to go to the courthouse. Mr. Ferguson has again been selected as a Texas Super Lawyer for 2005. He is one of only two lawyers in the Southeast Texas area who have been repeatedly selected by his peers throughout Texas as a Super Lawyer for every year that this Honor has been available. Insurance company interests have recently "targeted" Mr. Ferguson in a nationally published article based upon Ferguson Firm's continuing ability to obtain excellent results for our clients. In response, Mr. Ferguson has been quoted as saying, "To me, being placed upon a national hit list , tells me that our firm has been singled out as an ongoing threat to the insurance industry." The year 2006 was favorable for Ferguson Firm clients. For example, in July, 2006, Mr. Ferguson obtained a recoverable verdict/Final Judgment in an amount in excess of 2.1 million dollars when the offer going into trial was $500,000.00. Over the past two years, Ferguson Firm has participated in finalizing in excess of $460,000,000.00 for their clients. Included in this amount was a car wreck case tried by Mr. Ferguson which resulted in a recoverable verdict and Final Judgment in the amount of 1.175 million dollars when the offer going into trial was only $10,000.00! While not every case results in similar outcomes, Ferguson Firm has been able to stand up and fight for the rights of their clients.

Hurricane Rita delivered a significant and damaging blow to Southeast Texas in 2005. Property damage has been estimated to be in the hundreds of millions of dollars, and will require months, if not years, for recovery to be completed. Adding to the crisis for deserving local businesses and homeowners has been the greedy position taken by certain insurance carriers in denying payment of benefits, including business losses and additional living expenses (ALE). These insurers have decided that they would rather fight in court than pay deserving businesses/homeowners for legitimate losses which they owe. Ferguson Firm is prepared to fight these battles to successful conclusion.

In addition to their active trial docket, Mr. Ferguson serves as local counsel for out of county lawyers in cases filed in Jefferson, Orange, Hardin, Tyler, and Jasper counties. Given the nature of the trial practice in Southeast and East Texas, it is often prudent to retain local attorneys with both knowledge of and positive working relationships with the local courts that will ultimately hear and determine pending cases. Mr. Ferguson has proudly worked with attorneys from all across Texas as well as other states in cases pending in the Southeast Texas region.

Mr. Ferguson is a 1984 graduate of Baylor University School where he was a member of the nationally recognized Baylor Mock Trial Team, and a scholarship recipient. Mr. Ferguson is Board Certified in Personal Injury Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, as well as being certified in Civil Trial Law by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. He serves on the Board of Directors of Texas Trial Lawyers Association, and is an advocate with the American Trial Lawyers Association. He has served as the former president of the South East Texas Trial Lawyers Association, which is a group devoted to ensuring a level playing field for the workers he represents.  Mr. Ferguson has earned the highest rating with Martindale Hubbell, and is an elected fellow with the Texas Bar Foundation. Mr. Ferguson is also licensed to practice law in Colorado. Tim has been married to Sandy for 16 years and they are blessed with year-old twin girls.
