Please describe a case(s) in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
Last year, I settled a case from a good samaritan who was run over by a commercial truck and trailer and had his entire lower leg crushed. He had to go through tremendous amounts of medical work, involving external halo fixators to regrow his bone length in his lower leg. We sued the company and driver who was responsible for running over my client, who was clearing debris on the tollway during traffic. The driver was not licensed to drive the vehicle as loaded, and I was able to acquire video of the accident happening on the tollway's camera system, which was instrumental to the case. We settled the case for $3.5m and set the client up for life since he was no longer able to get around for his physically demanding job.
How did you build a successful practice?
I put together a small group of good clients and cases, and struck out on my own after being at a firm for six years.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
Problem solving ability, reasonableness, and pragmatism.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
I grew up in the suburb I practice in, which helps with referrals for new cases, and dealing with law enforcement on car wreck cases.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
No specific legal advice, but I offer an attentive ear, and, if I work on that type of case, then I request they come in for an in office consult.
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?
Just the general information.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
I can separate the legal chaff from the wheat in quick order.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
Solving people's problems.
What are your other interests in addition to law?
Fishing, hunting, woodworking.
Are you involved in your community?
Yes, I sponsor local youth sports teams.

HUBBARD V. COMPUSA STORES LP
Trustee: Attorney is the Trustee for the estate of the defendants. The plaintiffs, Barbara and Lynn Hubbard filed a complaint against the defendants. After negotiations a settlement and release agreement was reached. A motion was then filed to have the case dismissed with prejudice as to the defendants only. After reviewing the stipulations within the agreement the court approved the settlement and granted the stipulation and dismissal requests.
Business | Jury Verdict for Plaintiff | My client suffered business damages from a fire set at a nearby construction site that burned down her pasture that she rented for horse boarding. She settled out with the other two Defendants at mediation but went to trial against the remaining Defendant. The jury returned a verdict in favor of the Plaintiff.
