Questions & Answers

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

It was very satisfying to win back to back custody battles for dedicated fathers who believed they could not get a fair deal in family court. The old chestnut about courts always favoring the mother is no longer true.

How did you build a successful practice?

My first job was teaching real estate law to people just starting out and getting their licenses. In the process, I met and impressed many people who would soon be busy in their own successful businesses and needing attorneys for it and for personal things. With hard work and satisfied clients, my clientele built up substantially by word of mouth.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

Aside from the obvious, having an office that strives to help clients understand their situation and doesn't just speak in legalese is always important.

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?

Every case ultimately has to rest on its merits, but extensive experience in North Texas courts and getting to know the procedures and personalities of individual judges can certainly smooth the path to a good outcome.

What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?

Usually, we can ask a few questions and assess the basics of a case over the phone. Often we can suggest the probable strategy that we would use and provide an estimate of cost.

What information do you need in a free phone consultation?

That depends on the type of case, but we always need the basic information that is most important. In a divorce, it is vital to know if there are kids, a house, retirement accounts and any incidence of violence. Assessing the spouse's mindset and intentions may also be valuable.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?

As a small firm, we become very personally involved and invested with our clients. We keep them informed as we go, spend the time necessary to help them make the best of their case and celebrate with them in victory.
