Petitioners: Attorney for the petitioners, Christopher and Karen Holden in their case against the Commissioner of Internal Revenue. At issue is whether or not the respondents were correct in their determination that a $254,951 deficiency had been reported in the petitioners federal income tax. The couple was subsequently charged a $50,990 accuracy penalty. After review of the case as well as the financial records of the petitioners and their respective companies a judge determined that they had not proven the reasonable cause and good faith defense they had claimed. The were consequently help liable for the penalty as well as the underpaid taxes.
