Norred Law filed suit against the City of Arlington for its failure to follow its own rules and state law regarding the two-reading rule for passing ordinances and the Open Meetings Act regarding special elections. After a hearing on a temporary restraining order and mandamus, the trial court granted these equitable remedies to force the City to follow the rules, making way for a citizen-led petition to be on the November 6, 2018 ballot without being covered up by competing proposals.
