About Adam

Adam Hepburn grew up in a hard-working blue-collar family near the foothills in Los Angeles County. His father, an owner of an electrical contracting business, and his mother, a registered nurse, instilled in him early the importance of working hard and helping others in the community. Adam watched his father and mother become pillars in the community by donating their time and resources to local schools, churches, and nonprofit organizations. Inspired by his family and other leaders in his community, Adam pursued a life of public service.

While attending one of the most prestigious colleges in the world, U.C. Berkeley, Adam immediately began helping the community by working with a California State Senator. Adam interfaced directly with local constituents by assisting the Senator’s office at public policy debates and community forums. Adam’s legislative experience peaked his interest in the law and he soon began working at the state courthouse in Oakland, California. After graduating U.C. Berkeley, Adam received a full tuition merit scholarship to law school in San Diego, California, where his legal career took off.

Law school is where Adam first learned how to become a premiere trial attorney. Adam ranked amongst the top of his class and often obtained the highest grade in his challenging law school courses. After becoming part of the school’s selective and highly competitive Law Review, Adam competed in trial competitions and soon gained the recognition of his peers as a talented litigator. After winning a Distinguished Advocate award for his skilled advocacy, Adam earned his place on the school’s highly decorated Trial Advocacy Team and won many awards and trial competitions across the nation. Due to his trial skills and impressive scholastic abilities, Adam was hand-picked to work with the U.S. Navy JAG Corps in San Diego to help defend military members facing serious criminal charges. Adam also worked with the San Diego Public Defender’s Office where he litigated multiple jury trials with immense success even before he was admitted to the State Bar. Equipped with the skills to take on any adversary in court, Adam left law school and continued to pursue his passion of fighting for others by accepting a job with the San Diego Public Defender’s Office.

Early in Adam’s practice, he distinguished himself as a highly skilled and talented trial attorney. He litigated many trials against both the District Attorney’s Office and City Attorney’s Office with amazing results. Adam enjoyed many not guilty verdicts and many case dismissals throughout his career, recognized by his peers and the court as skilled litigator. Wanting to develop his trial skills even further, Adam was hand selected and accepted into one of the most highly regarded trial skills programs in the world, The Gerry Spence Trial Lawyers College, located in Dubois, Wyoming. Adam continued to perfect his skills as a trial attorney and met fellow trial attorneys throughout the country who fought against insurance companies that were trying to take advantage of good, vulnerable people. Inspired by his fellow trial attorneys and the justice they were fighting for across the country, Adam decided to dedicate himself to fighting against powerful and rich insurance companies taking advantage of people.

Adam strives to always give back to his community. Adam serves on the Board of Directors for The San Diego Freedom Ranch, a non-profit residential treatment program operating in San Diego for over 40 years. Adam also gives back to his law school by serving as a trial coach at California Western School of Law, where he teaches law students trial skills and trial techniques. Adam also serves as a mentor to underprivileged youth through other non-profit organizations in San Diego. Whether fighting in court on behalf of his clients or out in the community volunteering his time and resources, Adam’s passion is to help others and fight for those who have no voice.
