About Alan
Findlaw profile:
A former Colonel in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General's Corps, Mr. Hahn from 1995 to 2008 practiced private and public sector employment law and military law in San Diego with one of the area's largest predominantly plaintiff's employment law firms. In 2008 Mr. Hahn established the Hahn Law Firm.
In private practice, Mr. Hahn has handled numerous cases representing public and private sector employees in a wide variety of cases such as wrongful termination, sexual harassment, retaliation, whistleblower claims, employment contracts, severance agreements, discrimination, wage and hour claims, unemployment insurance claims, and security clearances. He has defended small businesses and individual employees as well. Mr. Hahn has litigated court cases in California Superior Court, and in Unites States District Court. Mr. Hahn has appellate experience as in the California Courts of Appeal, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and Federal Circuit. He has represented private and public sector employees in trials, arbitrations, mediations, and settlement proceedings. Mr. Hahn has represented numerous federal employees in administrative trials before the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the U.S. Merit Systems Protection Board. He has also represented state and local government employees before, for example, the San Diego City Civil Service Commission, and the San Diego City Employees' Retirement System.
Mr. Hahn's Army experience included both traditional military law such as courts-martial, and the business side of the Army as well. On the military law side, Mr. Hahn tried numerous courts-martial cases, taught criminal law and trial advocacy at the U.S Army's Judge Advocate General's School, and was a Deputy Staff Judge Advocate (i.e., deputy general counsel) (82nd Airborne Division) and Staff Judge Advocate (i.e., general counsel) (Aberdeen Proving Ground) for large organizations. As such Mr. Hahn has extensive experience in military personnel administrative and disciplinary actions.
On the business side of the Army, Mr. Hahn as a trial attorney litigated contract disputes before the Armed Services Board of Contract Appeals, and was the Chief, Litigation Branch, Army Procurement Fraud Division. In the latter position Mr. Hahn was responsible for suspension and debarment proceedings against federal contractors, managed all Army litigation under the qui tam provisions of the Civil False Claims Act, and was a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney.
