Questions & Answers

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

An example of a case, which is consistent with my ongoing message to clients, is where a dispute arose between two business partners in a limited liability company. I drafted the Operating Agreement and included provisions on behalf of my client which, when the partner attempted to take advantage of my client, allowed my client to point out the provisions of the Operating Agreement which clearly prohibited the person from taking advantage of him, or the partner would suffer adverse legal consequences.

How did you build a successful practice?

A successful attorney is one who achieves excellent results for his client and equally importantly, advises his clients how to avoid and prevent problems and disputes in the future. Once a client believes you are part of his team instead of an unavoidable expense, he will spread the word.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

Clients should look for expertise, strategic planning, honesty and fairness in billing on the basis of value added services.

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?

Local knowledge can be helpful, but the law related to business and construction transactions is primarily state law.

What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?

I can provide a lot of information. I believe the initial consultation should give a client a good legal overview of his/her situation.

What information do you need in a free phone consultation?

I just need the essential facts of the matter and the clients name.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?

There are many very good attorneys in the Sarasota-Bradenton area. I try to be diligent and responsive.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

The most rewarding aspect of my job is interacting with a client on a problem or dispute, and achieving a result that is better than the client thought possible.

What are your other interests in addition to law?

My other interests include physical fitness, my family and organizations which contribute to the assistance, protection and support of animals and children.

Are you involved in your community?

Yes. Over the years I have been on various boards and contributed financially to organizations which support children and animal protection, child education and financial assistance.
