About Andrea
Andrea S. Carlise represents public entities, businesses and individuals in litigation involving employment discrimination, wrongful termination, premises liability, professional negligence, personal injury, property damage, and police defense as well as insurance coverage issues and bad faith litigation matters.
Ms. Carlise has litigated and managed cases throughout California for 18 years. She has successfully represented clients at three jury trials, including obtaining a directed verdict for the Associated Students of the University of California, and a defense verdict for Alameda County after a seven week trial. She has written and argued 30 dispositive motions, facilitated the settlement or dismissal of many cases and handled state and federal appellate work.
She has extensive experience conducting mediations and arbitrations. Ms. Carlise assists employers and employees in resolving disputes concerning alleged wrongful termination, sexual harassment and employment discrimination. She also provides advice to employers, such as Old Republic Title, concerning employment and labor law issues.
Ms. Carlise is admitted to practice by the State Bar of California, the United States Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit, and the U.S. District Court, Northern and Eastern Districts of California.
Outside of Patton Wolan Carlise, Ms. Carlise is an active member of Queen's Bench, a San Francisco Bay Area based bar association. She has served on the Board of Directors and has chaired the reproductive rights and scholarship committees. She also serves on the No Glass Ceiling Monitoring Task Force of the Bar Association of San Francisco.
Ms. Carlise will be the 2009 Chair of the Resolutions Committee of the Conference of Delegates of California Bar Associations and serves as a member of its Board of Directors; is Treasurer of the National Conference of Women's Bar Associations; and a member of the Earl Warren American Inns of Court. She is a life member, past president and past board member of California Women Lawyers.
She has volunteered as a Court Appointed Special Advocate representing children in Alameda County Juvenile Court dependency proceedings, and has served as PTA President at her children's elementary school.
