Questions & Answers

How did you build a successful practice?

I built a successful practice primarily because of hard work, reputation and word of mouth. My opposing counsel is not going to work harder than me.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

A client should look for someone who is honest with them about the strengths and weaknesses of the case. In addition, in an initial interview the lawyer should ask the client about the desired outcome. The lawyer should be clear about the financial arrangements. In addition, the lawyer should be able to explain how the case is likely to proceed.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?

Unlike many employment lawyers, I have represented both employees and employers. Therefore, I can analyze the case from both sides and give an honest assessment of the case early on.

What are your other interests in addition to law?

Reading, cooking, college basketball and theater.

Are you involved in your community?

Yes. I am on the boards of several organizations involved with education. I am on the Board of Trustees of Wake Forest University. I am also on the Board of Directors of Saint Vincent's Day Home in Oakland and Hidden Villa in Los Altos Hills, CA.
