Questions & Answers
Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
We successfully assisted a father in regaining his time sharing with his children after his ex wife had made serious and false allegations about him that resulted in a suspension of his time sharing. At the conclusion of the case, the father ended up receiving more time sharing with the children than he previously had and his relationship with the children's mother improved after they jointly agreed to do co-parenting therapy. We also assisted a mother in being able to relocate with her young child and husband to another jurisdiction where she is able to make a better living to provide for her and the child.
How did you build a successful practice?
Every client has unique important needs and every client deserves high quality representation no matter how large or small their case. We are a small firm dedicated to vigorously protecting the legal rights and financial interests of all of our clients with a minimum disruption to their personal lives. I make myself available directly to all my clients and I have built most of my client base through word of mouth and referrals from other clients.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
Honesty, integrity and specialized knowledge of the subject.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
It is important because each district in Florida has its own unique set of diverse residents and culture sensitivities and the local judiciary reflects this diversity.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
During a consultation I will provide general information such as filing deadlines, fees and the minimum requirement for jurisdiction in Florida. Sometimes we can determine in a initial phone consultation if the caller has a viable case or not. Also, whether it makes sense for them to incur the cost of pursuing the matter in court or outside of court.
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?
In the consultation, I need the client to provide a brief description of the legal matter and whether it involves a divorce situation, a post divorce situation, or a pre divorce situation. If the matter involves a claim for support or time sharing for a child of unwed parents, then it helps to know whether the parents are still together or living separately and whether the caller knows where the other parent resides.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
I have a great deal of experience with people of diverse background in this community and I am also active in organizations that specialize in Family Law.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
Getting a sincere thank you from my clients when their matter has been concluded.
Are you involved in your community?
I serve on a non profit board that assist with fundraises for family Court servings and recently became a participant in the Florida Bar Family Law Rules Committee.
