About Bonnie
Bonnie Wilkins is a shareholder of Kennedy & Graven, Chartered, and practices primarily in the areas of real estate and bankruptcy law.
In 1966, Bonnie earned a B.A. degree in English from the North Dakota State University. Following graduation, she worked for the St. Paul Companies in employee communications before becoming the public relations director for the Girl Scout Council of St. Croix Valley (in St. Paul).
Bonnie returned to school in 1983, attending the University of Minnesota Law School, where she earned a law degree and graduated cum laude in 1986. During law school, she continued her interest in writing and oral presentation by participating in the International Moot Court and competing in the ABA Moot Court regional competition.
Bonnie s practice emphasizes real estate and bankruptcy. Her real estate practice includes representation of a major interstate pipeline facility, developers, lenders, and public housing authorities. In her bankruptcy practice, she primarily represents corporate and individual debtors, secured creditors, and unsecured creditors committee in Chapter 11 reorganizations, and advises municipalities on bankruptcy issues. Bonnie also has substantial litigation experience.
Among the community service and professional activities in which she participates, Bonnie performs pro bono legal services for Minnesota Advocates for Human Rights, focusing on asylum proceedings. She volunteers at the English Learning Center, a language program for immigrants and refugees, where she also serves on the board of directors. In addition, Bonnie has been active in American Field Services (international student exchange program) and the board of directors of the Cedar-Riverside People's Center, a community health care and services provider.
Bonnie has this to say about Kennedy & Graven:
- Dave Graven drew me to this firm because of his love of being on the leading edge of the law, his great enthusiasm for public affairs, and his unparalleled ability to bring out the best in others. Fortunately, his spirit lives on and still permeates Kennedy & Graven. I like to believe that our clients, even those who never knew Dave directly, continue to benefit from that extra measure of excellence that was Dave Graven.
