Amy completed her undergraduate work at Mississippi University for Women, graduating in 1995 with a B.A. in English, with honors. While at the “W”, Amy was named the University’s first Eudora Welty Scholar. She received her juris doctor degree from Mississippi College School of Law in 1998 and was admitted to practice in the state of Mississippi. Her practice focuses mainly on workers’ compensation defense, representing employers and carriers in matters before the Mississippi Workers’ Compensation Commission and pursuing subrogation recovery before circuit courts throughout the state, as well as estate matters. Amy was named one of the Mississippi Business Journal’s Top 40 under 40 in 2005 and the T. George Kelly volunteer of the year for her work with the Lawyers and Judges Assistance Program of the Bar in 2016. For many years, Amy and her husband Derek have dedicated themselves to their non-profit youth baseball league, the Jackson Ninety-Sixer Baseball Club, assisting and providing access to athletics to disadvantaged youth. She was named NABF’s Woman of Year in 2004 for her dedication to youth baseball. She also currently serves on the St. Joseph Catholic School Advisory Council and is the Director of Youth Music at St. Paul Catholic Church, where she and her family have been parishioners for many years. Amy is the current chair of the Workers’ Compensation Section of the Mississippi Bar and was recently selected by Thomas Reuters to author their Practical Law Guide to Mississippi Workers’ Compensation. She resides in Brandon with her husband, Derek, son, John, and daughter, Mary Lee.

Pepper, a native of Charleston, Mississippi, completed his undergraduate work at the University of Mississippi, where he received a B.B.A. He received his juris doctor degree from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 1989, and he was a member of the Phi Alpha Delta legal fraternity. He practiced in Birmingham, Alabama, for 2 years representing title insurance companies, before moving to Jackson, Mississippi, in August 1991, where his practice consisted mainly of general civil litigation. Pepper joined Markow Walker, P.A., in 1993 and practices mainly in the workers’ compensation law division. He also works in the general liability division handling the defense of personal injury claims. Pepper has an AV ranking from Martindale Hubble. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Mississippi Bar Association, Defense Resource Institute, Mississippi Defense Lawyers Association, the Madison County Bar Association, and the Alabama Bar Association, as well as being the Past-President of the Madison County Association. Courtney graduated magna cum laude from the University of Mississippi in 2006. She then graduated from the University of Mississippi School of Law in December 2008. Upon becoming a licensed attorney in 2009, she began her legal career by joining Markow Walker, P.A. Courtney primarily handles workers’ compensation matters, defending employers and carriers in countless claims before the Mississippi Workers’ Compensation Commission, as well as, appeals to the Mississippi Court of Appeals. In addition, she regularly pursues subrogation recovery on behalf of her clients in state and federal courts throughout Mississippi. She tailors her defense handling of each claim to the preferences and needs of her client. Courtney represents a wide range of employers that span from small local businesses to large nationwide employers. Regardless of the size of the business, Courtney understands the importance of efficient claims handling, while also being thorough, to get a favorable result for her workers’ compensation clients. T.G. is a graduate of the A.B. Freeman School of Business, Tulane University. He subsequently obtained his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 1989. T.G. represented corporate and financial creditors in bankruptcy and foreclosure practice in his early career. He then joined Markow Walker, P.A., in 1994, and is the firm’s Managing Shareholder. T.G. devotes his practice primarily to state workers’ compensation litigation in front of the Mississippi Workers’ Compensation Commission on trial and appellate levels, on behalf of employers and insurance carriers, as well as, self-insured employers and their third-party administrators. He participates in various seminars on the subject of workers’ compensation, including presentations at the MWCEA’s Annual Worker’s Compensation Conference, and MASI’s CSIWCP program. T.G. is presently on the Mississippi Workers’ Compensation Education Association Board of Directors and is the current Vice President. He subsequently earned undergraduate degrees from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and Mississippi College, before earning his juris doctor degree from Mississippi College in 1997. Jared Hawkins was born and raised in Belzoni, Mississippi. After completing his undergraduate education at the University of Mississippi in 2008, where he studied mathematics, he furthered his education at Mississippi College School of Law, where he graduated in December 2010. Jared became licensed to practice law in the state of Mississippi in April 2011. He is a member of the Mississippi Bar, and he is admitted to practice before all Mississippi State Courts, as well as the Northern and Southern U.S. District Courts and Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. Jared accepted a position with Markow Walker, P.A. in 2011. Jared devotes his practice primarily to workers’ compensation defense, which includes handling all matters before the Mississippi Workers’ Compensation Commission, in addition to the Mississippi Court of Appeals and the Mississippi Supreme Court. In order to help educate his clients on current issues and law changes, Jared speaks at seminars routinely and upon request. He also prepares a monthly blog for his clients which pulls the curtain back on his personal life, while giving educational information related to topics in the workers’ compensation arena. While knowing the specific needs of each client is critical, Jared also enjoys getting to know his clients on a more personal level. When Jared is not practicing law, he enjoys spending time with his family. Jared is married to his beautiful wife, Stephanie, and they have two children, Sawyer and Charlotte. Jared and his family attend Highland Colony Baptist Church. He is an active member of his community, and he enjoys giving back when he can.
