Questions & Answers
Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
I had a client whose ex-husband kept filing modifications of child support and custody. She kept having to take time off of work and hiring a lawyer to defend herself against his claims. I successfully represented her, won her a more favorable custody arrangement where she had sole custody, and the judge ordered that if her ex wanted to petition her again, he would have to get permission from the judge to do so.
How did you build a successful practice?
I listen to my clients and try to find creative solutions to their legal problems.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
The best lawyers take the time to understand all aspects of a client's case, to listen to a client's priorities and concerns, and provide information about the legal process.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
I am licensed to practice law throughout New York State and I have handled family law and divorce matters in several counties, but Onondaga County is my home base and I have been practicing here for eight years. Family law and matrimonial law are my only areas of practice, so I know the area and the other lawyers, as well as the referees and judges, well.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
In a phone consultation, I can provide information about the legal process and set up an appointment to meet in person.
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?
I do not need any particular information for a phone consultation, but if you are interested in moving forward with me as your attorney I will be eager to set up an in-person meeting to start moving forward on your case.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
My clients say that I listen to their concerns, their priorities, and their ideas for solving their legal problems. I prefer to help clients prepare their cases for settlement, as I believe that agreements are easier on families and children. But sometimes a dispute requires litigation and I have a great deal of motion and trial experience to guide you through a hearing or trial if necessary.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
I feel satisfied with my work when I have helped my client find a creative legal solution that meets their needs and their family's needs with as little stress as possible. I understand you a have a life beyond your family law or divorce issue, and I want to get you back to it feeling comfortable, relieved, and safe.
What are your other interests in addition to law?
I enjoy spending time with my kids and being outdoors.
Are you involved in your community?
I am active in my neighborhood association and with the women's bar association, where I am working to foster mentoring opportunities for less experienced attorneys as well as opportunities to serve our community.
