Dahlia A. Walker-Huntington is the principal of the Law Offices of Dahlia A. Walker, P.A. in Hollywood, Florida. Dahlia is a Former President of the Association of Caribbean Law Students 1996-1997 at the University of Miami. Dahlia was a Black History Month Honoree February, 2002 of The Herald; and a MYSTIK 1580 AM Women’s Month Honoree in March, 2003. The Florida Association of Women Lawyers – Miami Dade Chapter honored Walker-Huntington as a Woman Inspiring Hope and Possibility in March, 2004. The Alpha Academy Alumnae Association of Jamaica named Dahlia their “Woman of Excellence 2008”. She received a Jamaican Diaspora Lumina Award in honor of Jamaica’s 50th anniversary of independence in Miami in 2012; was named Change Maker of the month in honor of Caribbean-American Heritage month in June, 2013 by Caribbean Riddims; and Legacy Magazine named her One of South Florida’s 25 Most Influential & Prominent Black Women in Leadership for 2014. Dahlia is a past president of the Caribbean Bar Association and the first female president of the association. She is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association; the American Bar Association; Alpha Academy Alumnae Association, (Florida and Jamaica chapters); and The National Association of Professional Women. Dahlia is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Florida Council of Bar Association Presidents. Dahlia is the founder and the former first president of The Jamaican Women of Florida (JWOF), Inc., in 2013, a Non-Profit organization designed to provide an outlet for Jamaican women in Florida to empower themselves through charitable and educational outreach, mentoring and personal development. She is active in the community and is often called upon to participate in community forums throughout the United States and Jamaica to speak on the issues of migration, immigration, citizenship, economic development, diversity and inclusion and women’s empowerment. Dahlia is renowned for organizing community events from Citizenship Drives and Economic Forums to Town Hall Meetings, Conferences and Galas. From June, 2004 to June, 2006 Dahlia was an elected advisor to the Jamaican Government and served on the Jamaican Diaspora Advisory Board representing the Southern United States. Since February, 2006 Dahlia co-hosts “Your Legal Corner” on Power 106FM in Kingston, Jamaica (www.go-jamaica.com) at 11:30AM EST. This show connects people all over the world who have questions on US immigration law and was voted the number one hour on talk radio in Jamaica. (February, 2008).
