About Clifford

Cliff Greenberg has devoted his entire professional career to helping children and families. He began working at the Juvenile Rights Division of The Legal Aid Society in Manhattan in 1990 and remained there for three years. As a law guardian for children, he represented neglected and abused children and zealously protected their rights in Family Court. It was there that Cliff became friendly with Judge Judith Scheindlin, now known simply as Judge Judy.

After making contacts with dozens of social workers from various agencies, Cliff decided to open up his own law firm in 1993. Cliff represented foster care agencies as a litigator and also began to hone his skill as an adoption lawyer, which to this day remains his true passion.

Cliff presently represents hundreds of foster and adoptive parents each year as they strive to adopt the children they love. He also lectures at over one dozen agencies and at Circle of Support mettings, New York State Foster and Adoptive Parents conferences and many other conferences, as he shared his wealth of knowledge about the adoption process.

While lecturing about adoptions, Cliff reads from his two children's books, I See You, I See Me and My Grandma Is My New Mommy, both of which deal with adoptions from the vantage point of a child.

Cliff is a single father of two small children (his biological children) and many of his clients, as single parents, have stated that they feel an affinity for him as a result of his rearing two children on his own.

Cliff's adoption practice includes many other types of adoption, including private, readoptions, stepparent and LGBT adoptions.

Cliffs divorce mediation practice stems from his desire to heal the wounds which invariably result from a contested divorce, many of which become bitter and nasty. By becoming a recognized and certified divorce mediator, Cliff has been able to help many couples work together to avoid the excessive emotional trauma of a contested divorce.

Cliff also represents many clients in Family Court proceedings, such as child custody, visitation, grandparent visitation, guardianship, child support and neglect/abuse cases. His vast experience in the Family Court arena serves him well as an advocate for his clients.

Cliffs mantra is simple and pithy: The best interests of the child is what concerns him and when he represents his clients, he constantly reminds them that they need to keep in mind the needs of our most precious resource - our children.
