Questions & Answers

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

One case I had last year was a jury verdict in May for my 5 year old client who was injured at a day care center when he was pushed off a play structure by another child. The jury returned the verdict in Contra Costa County in the amount of $282,888.85. The offer prior to trial was only $10,000.

How did you build a successful practice?

I built my practice of 34 years through dedication to my clients and hard work. When I take a case, I am relentless in pursuing the case to resolution. I am very detail oriented and professionally aggressive.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

Things to look for in an attorney: Integrity, honesty and steadfast dedication to resolving the client's case.

What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?

Phone consultations: An attorney should not render legal opinions in a phone consultation. The purpose of the consultation is to gather initial facts and other information about the claim being made to begin an initial investigation. The information an attorney may give in a phone consultation depends, of course, upon the nature of the claim. An attorney can talk about past experiences with similar types of claims and some of the challenges with pursuing the claim.

What information do you need in a free phone consultation?

I personally want a potential client to be as detailed as possible about his or her claim in the initial phone consultation. I then often request that the potential client prepare a memo or email to me outlining the facts of the case, if that person is capable of doing so. After reviewing the information I will follow up with an appointment with the potential client to further discuss the claim and to evaluate the client.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?

I am recognized in my legal community as an aggressive litigator. I am respectful to opposing counsel, provided opposing counsel is professional and respectful as well.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

The most rewarding aspect of my job is helping my clients achieve success with their claims. Another rewarding aspect of my job is the mental challenges it presents.
