I am the founding partner of the Finney Law Office. I am dedicated to protecting our clients by fighting for justice and financial compensation. At Finney Law Office, we believe in handling cases from start to finish because we believe that our clients deserve compassionate, aggressive representation.

I graduated from St. Louis University Law School in 1978. After graduation, I worked as an Assistant Circuit Attorney in the City of St. Louis prosecuting felonies. During my tenure there, I tried to completion and won more jury trials than any other attorney on staff. I decided to enter private practice in 1981.

I specialize in serious litigation matters, particularly complex personal injury claims. I have over thirty years of experience as a litigator, having completed over 100 jury trials. I have obtained multimillion dollar verdicts or settlements in claims arising from truck accidents, medical negligence, product defects, fraud, auto accidents, accidental shooting, and inverse condemnation.

The results of some of my trials have attracted national media attention, and with respect to protective firefighting equipment, have changed the way defective products are tracked and have resulted in product recalls. I collaborate with out of state attorneys to pursue claims in other jurisdictions. I have also been named a top 100 trial lawyer by the American Trial Lawyers Association. I have appeared on radio as an expert commentator on the topics of legal and medical malpractice and am a lifetime member of the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum.

I am a member of the Missouri Bar Association, the St. Louis Bar Association, the American Association of Justice, the American Trial Lawyers Association, the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys, the Lawyers Association, and the Association of Plaintiff Interstate Trucking Lawyers of America.

• Wrongful death – Products liability – Confidential Settlement Failure of a PASS Device (personal alert safety device or pal device) to activate during a fire making it impossible to locate a firefighter who sustained injuries which ultimately resulted in death. Medical Malpractice – $6.1 million settlement Largest settlement at the time ever obtained against a University in Missouri, (Confidential) – Patient received radiation after removal of tumor. The amount of radiation and failure to carefully block surrounding organs caused serious permanent damage to intestines. Youth shot by security guard – $5.5 million awarded Youth was handcuffed on ground when security guard’s firearm accidentally discharged into his neck leaving him a quadriplegic. Inverse condemnation action – $6.5 million settlement $6.5 million dollar settlement paid by the City of St. Louis to the owner of a building who was denied the right to demolish and develop his property. Fraud – $4 million settlement Settlement arising from claim alleging fraudulent contract negotiations. Products Liability – Confidential Settlement Abrupt failure of Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus during fire caused permanent injury to a firefighter. Wrongful Death – Trucking Accident $2 million Compensation paid to surviving children of Pastor and wife who were killed by a truck on interstate. Wrongful Death – Medical Malpractice $1.7 million Doctors diagnosed woman with gall bladder inflammation problems when she was actually suffering from an operable heart aneurysm. Following gall bladder surgery she went into cardiac arrest and remained on life support for one month until her death. Wrongful Death – Explosion $1.6 Widow and children brought action for the death of a man killed in a propane tank explosion and fire. Wrongful Death – Trucking Accident $1.5 million Pedestrian struck and killed by truck while crossing street.
