Dayna Wheatley was first exposed to immigration practice while working as a judicial extern for the Chicago Immigration Court. STATE v SUNG

Counsel for Nunu Sung, a Myanmar immigrant who in 2009 gave birth to a baby boy and abandoned him outside of an apartment building. She was subsequently sentenced to 3 years in prison and consistently lost proceedings to regain custody of the boy. Federal immigration authorities declined to appeal a court ruling that allows her to remain in America but blocks her path to citizenship.
