Questions & Answers

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

In the last year, after one year of preparation, we fought through a month trial which addressed complex medical issues surrounding the amputation of a patients leg and its relation to diabetes. It required me to learn this area of medicine to unravel an experts attempt to confuse the jury with half developed medical explanations that could only be disproved by someone who knew the medicine. In the last year we also negotiated and closed a case which resulted in a settlement against a insurance agency who had stolen premium from a carrier. It also resulted in judgments against 3 individuals who also participated, the judgments in the approximate amount of 2 million dollars.

How did you build a successful practice?

Most of our cases are with companies we have represented for decades or are referred by other lawyers, many of which had been our adversaries in past cases. I am also called upon by other lawyers to assist or take over cases that are too complex for them and involve significant financial exposure or legal issues that require superior strategic and theoretical skills. I am proud that these referrals often are the bulk of my non institutional cases. In order to balance this flow of work, I am surrounded by 2 associates that work on nothing but my cases and well as a legal assistant and paralegal that are at my clients disposal, leaving no calls, emails or inquiries unanswered. I do not end my workday until every person who has contacted me has been responded to by someone in my office.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

Creative thinking, compassion and someone whose income is not impacted by the handling of any given case, allowing them to be flexible and dedicated to the case not the fee. My practice is so vibrant and multifaceted, that it always allows me to make decisions based on what is financially best for the client.

What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?

General out line of the problem and real life solutions to problems, some that I can provide on that initial call that allow the client to solve the problem without me and without coming out of pocket to hire a lawyer. I make lifelong clients by doing this as part of a free consultation.

What information do you need in a free phone consultation?

All the parties names and roles and a general description of the problem and desired result.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?

Extremely dedicated to client needs (both emotionally and financially). No one case makes or breaks our firm, which is a rock of stability, having served the community since 1961. I give ongoing educational seminars in my areas of expertise. I also have resources across the county, thereby allowing me to truly to what is best by the client, even if that means finding another lawyer better suited or situated for the matter.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

Able to work on a variety of complex matters for clients whose needs go from a simple landlord tenant dispute to mergers of competing medical practices. We have litigated or participated in matters all over the country. When you have me as a lawyer, you don't have someone who handles simply one thing, you have a counselor who can and often is a life and business partner, allowing you to go through matters with a confidant in your corner.

What are your other interests in addition to law?

I am an avid reader, usually picking 3 or 4 subjects per year and reading extensively on those. I am a swimmer and an huge sports fan of our local teams (GO DODGERS.) I am also a music enthusiast ( I WORSHIP TODD RUNDGREN.) My wife and I have been contributors and participants in foundations which serve special needs children and animals in need.

Are you involved in your community?

My wife and I are involved in our local religious community and regularly participate in programs which encourage spiritual growth and connection.
