Last year I represented a couple who were seeking to obtain a guardianship of their grandson. The mother was their daughter, and the father was her former boyfriend. Neither offered any stability as parents. My clients were very anxious to protect their grandson's safety and future by establishing themselves as guardian so that he could live in a stable home where his school attendance and health would be properly looked after.

I do my best for all my clients as I rely on good word of mouth to obtain new clients.

Clients should look for a lawyer who will represent them in fact rather than who claim to do so but in fact pass court appearances off on an associate that the client has never met or, worse, a contract attorney who has no prior experience with the client's case.

Judges are people and like any set of people their have their particular likes and dislikes. A lawyer who is a familiar figure in a particular court is less likely to irritate a judge gratuitously by engaging in behavior that judge dislikes.

I like a potential client to describe the facts in their own words. I will then do my best to assess whether there is anything I can do for him or her in the way of legal services, and if I believe there is, the next step will be to schedule an in-person meeting and for the potential client to bring important documents with him or her so that I may give an opinion thereon and we can make a mutual decision as to whether we should proceed to actually representing him or her in their case.

The client's name; what is the basic nature of the case, that is, what is it about; the names of the other parties. That is the minimum information I should think.

I have a broad life experience before I became a lawyer that included military service and work as a public school teacher.
