Questions & Answers
Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
We represent individuals who were injured and clients with employment issues. These individuals have been through difficult times and helping them get though those is very rewarding. We are currently helping a woman who was injured in a car accident and is unable to do her job. We got her a settlement that has helped her to pay her bills because she has been unable to work. We also help individuals understand and negotiate employment contracts and severance offers. We recently helped and individual who was terminated and got him a substantial amount more severance than was offered to him. This was very important to him at a time when he was unemployed.
How did you build a successful practice?
We work hard to get the best results possible for each client that we represent. I have been practicing for over 30 years and hope that have a reputation as an attorney who will work hard for his clients.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
Someone who works hard, answers their questions and has a reputation of getting great results.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
It is very important. At Stillman & Associates we have been practicing for a long time and know the Judges, the Courts and the Insurance companies and they know us. I think that knowing who to talk to and having them know us has helped us to get excellent results for our clients.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
We speak with individuals at no charge to determine whether they have a case that we can help them with. In many instances we also handle cases on a contingency basis, so the client doesn't pay us unless we recover for him/her.
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?
It depends upon the case. Initially we need to know the parties involved so we can do a conflicts check. We then ask the potential client to describe why they are seeking legal services and find out the facts of their case.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
Before handling personal injury law I worked for an insurance company. Having worked on ""the other side"" gives me a unique perspective because I know what the insurance company is looking for when working on a case. I have also litigated many cases and have had many trials, mediations and arbitrations. This is helpful because the insurance companies know that we are willing to go to trial if we don't get a fair result.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
When the case is over our clients often have a better understanding of how hard we have worked for them. When we help a client through a tough time that is very rewarding. We often get referrals from clients we have worked with. It feels good to hear from a new client that someone you worked with felt you did a great job.
What are your other interests in addition to law?
I enjoy spending time with my family, hiking, swimming and biking.
