Questions & Answers
Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
We represented an app developer who was, essentially, defrauded by the programming company that the developer hired. The programming company's actions nearly depleted the app developer's budget, without providing the app developer a remotely functional app. By digging into time-logs and cross-referencing source-code changes, we were able to identify areas in which the programming company had liability to our client. As part of a settlement, the app developer walked away with more than all of the money than it paid to the programming company. This allowed the app developer to finalize and launch its product.
How did you build a successful practice?
We focused on getting to know our clients' businesses so that we could not only address our clients' present legal needs, but help them take proactive legal steps in order to avoid future legal fees. We make our clients' livelihoods our goal - which includes billing as little as we can for any given matter.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
At the very least, a client should retain an attorney who has knowledge and experience in the subject-matter at issue. Beyond that, a client should seek to find an attorney whose personality and work-style meshes well with the client's own; without that, a client will not feel comfortable with even the most skilled and knowledgeable attorney in the long-term.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
Not typically relevant.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
We review whatever relevant documents that the prospective client provides us before our consultation. During the consultation, we discuss any facts that we may still need to know more about, then inform the prospective client of his or her legal rights and of their various options to pursue a remedy. Overall, we spend quite a bit of time on our initial consultations. And that illustrates how we handle our client's matters: thoroughly and with close attention to detail.
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?
We have all prospective clients complete a short online form that requests basic information about the client's matter, including a brief narrative. We also ask for any documentation that is relevant to the matter so that we can be as fully-informed about the facts before our initial consultation.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
At least three things differentiate us from other attorneys in the community. First, we focus on building long-term relationships with our clients. Second, we take a very practical approach to reaching our client's goals (i.e., a demand letter is more practical in most situations than running to the courthouse to file a lawsuit). Third, we are very technologically savvy, which is central to our efficiency.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
Helping to right a wrong that has been done to one of our clients.
What are your other interests in addition to law?
Technology, Family, and Community.
Are you involved in your community?
Yes.
