About Donald
Donald L. Sapir has been a practitioner of labor and employment law for more than thirty years. He has had experience representing employees from all walks of life, businesses both large and small, and labor organizations and their affiliated pension and welfare funds.
Mr. Sapir has handled thousands of matters involving virtually every type of claim known to labor and employment lawyers, including unlawful terminations; discrimination based on race, national origin, gender, and sexual orientation; sexual harassment; retaliation; whistleblower protection; Sarbanes-Oxley; pension; unfair labor practices; representation elections; restrictive covenants; employment agreements; separation agreements; Family Medical Leave Act; wage and hour/overtime; USERRA; State Division of Human Rights; EEOC; New York City Human Rights Commission; state court; federal courts; class actions; and injunctions. Litigation activities have resulted in precedent-setting decisions and impressive verdicts. While he is always willing to discuss a reasonable settlement that will satisfy the objectives of his client, he will litigate when necessary. Mediation is often used as a technique to quickly accomplish goals of clients and to minimize a client's costs of achieving those goals.
In recognition of his achievements as a labor and employment lawyer, Mr. Sapir was elected to the prestigious College of Labor & Employment Lawyers in 2000. He has also served on the executive committee of labor & employment law related bar associations and has chaired various committees and subcommittees of the American Bar Association, New York State Bar Association, Westchester County Bar Association, and National Employment Lawyers Association of New York.
Mr. Sapir has been a contributing author or editor to various treatises on labor and employment law, including Discrimination in the Workplace, New York Employment Litigation Guide, and Employment Discrimination Law. His articles have been published in the New York State Bar Associations Labor and Employment Law Section Newsletter, the New York Law Journal, and other legal publications. Mr. Sapir has appeared as a guest commentator on CourtTV on several occasions.
