About Eduardo
Eduardo E. Drake, a registered patent attorney and firm shareholder, focuses on adding value to businesses, by not only designing and building strategic patents and other legal instruments that capture competitive advantage, but also counseling on IP risk management, due diligence, and licensing issues. Eduardo brings a creative and enthusiastic perspective to his work, viewing his role as trusted advisor and advocate to include part diamond cutter, part coach, part teacher, and part entrepreneur.
During his nearly 15 years of lawyering and five years of engineering, Eduardo has worked in a number of fields, including information technologies, computer software, business methods, medical devices, and consumer products. He's also enjoyed the good fortune of being recognized as a Minnesota Super Lawyer for the past four years: 2005-2008. Nationally, the Schwegman firm has earned 15 top-ten rankings for the quality of its patent work. These included number-one rankings for patenting computer, biotech, and medical-related innovations.
Before joining the legal profession, Eduardo gained industry experience at Grand Gulf Nuclear Station, Dover Elevator Systems, and General Electric Aerospace Electronics. At GE, he worked on radar systems and infrared-search-and-track systems, while also working toward a Master's in Electrical Engineering from
In addition to his passion for law, technology, and business, Eduardo is a devoted father of four: U.S. Marine Patrick, college freshman Bradley, and first-grade twins Carson and Elaina. He also enjoys yoga, snowboarding, and sculpting.
