I can not speak to the competency of these attorneys, because I ultimately didn’t retain them BUT I can speak on the character and ethics of the named partner. I was looking for an attorney to represent me against the slumlord who owns the apartment above mine … imagine my surprise when the landlord’s name appeared on my search return list. He has allowed an imminently dangerous situation to continue- unmitigated- even after repeated contact with the fire department. In short, it seems as though the HVAC in one of his bedrooms has been leaking and causing EXTENSIVE damage to my ceiling. Originally, it was just cosmetic and I have had it repaired… MULTIPLE TIMES. My last repair included waterproofing the entire ceiling and that seemed to have been successful. On this past Friday (June 14, 2024) water started dripping from the light fixture in this, my disabled son’s bedroom. It blew the breaker and the light fixture, as well. On Sunday I had the ceiling (cosmetically) repaired AGAIN (keep in mind that every single one of these repairs have been done at a significant cost, to me) however water continued to leak from the electrical box in the ceiling. The light fixture itself, once removed, smelled exactly how one would expect an electrical fire to smell - it burned the entire fixture (lights & fan). I did what I thought was appropriate to attempt to mitigate the damage and the risk of fire (this is a high-rise building so multiple units would be affected if there was a fire) On that Tuesday (June 18) i called the fire department and they came, saw the water dripping and immediately went upstairs to investigate. They informed everyone in the units above mine to shut the AC off in that room - I guess in an attempt to stop the immediate danger of an electrical fire. And they cautioned me to KEEP THE BREAKER OFF - even though it controls half of my apartment. So I have been without power since Friday. The following day, water continued to flow and I contacted the fire department AGAIN and they AGAIN advised the units above mine to shut the units off. This is DAYS AND DAYS of blatant disregard and inaction by this landlord. The management company has been working to mediate and has been incredibly responsive- but if the units above me refuse to turn the HVAC off (in that room) there isn’t much more they can reasonably do. Because this is my severely disabled son’s room, I have also called the health department, code enforcement, and fire prevention. In addition to other agencies that deal with neglect and abuse of the disabled. Needless to say, I will not be retaining anyone from this ethically “challenged” firm.
