I hired Emily Ross last year to help me with divorce proceedings. Since then, she's also helped me on multiple occasions with questions for residual issues that have come up. I know lots of people that have been divorced over the past few years. By and large, 90% of them said the lawyer that represented them was a huge waste of money. When I talk to those people after living through divorce of my own, I quickly tell them that my lawyer was worth every penny (and honestly probably a lot more). I wish I could leave more stars for Emily. As a lot of folks going through divorce, I was caught in a pretty awful life situation. Emily really helped to take a lot anxiety out of situation at just about every step along the way. She brought a pragmatic, but also sensitive approach to everything from start to finish. Her responses were fast, she was knowledgeable on any questions that came up, and ultimately I feel like I ended up with a really fair deal on everything that was involved (custody and finances). One thing that I really appreciated was how straight forward Emily was with me. Whether you like it or not, you do not need a divorce lawyer that's going to sugar coat things. You do need one that will call you out to some degree on your own BS, call the other side out when something is not right, know when to take certain actions, and understand which battles to fight (and which ones to let go). Emily does a fantastic job of doing all that in a respectful way. She does a really good job of keeping her clients and the overall situation grounded in reality and in "the facts". Emily also does not try to make decisions for you. At any turn where there are options, she'll explain them, help you weigh pros and cons, but ultimately put you in the decision making seat 100%. Emily overall was just a joy to work with through a really tough situation. Being out of the process for many months at this point, I can also look back and say that I’ve had the chance to live through most of the stuff that was put into the papers and I can still say that I’m really happy about the results. I’d love to recommend Emily to anyone needing a family lawyer in Texas.
