MCMAHON LAW, PLC is a solo practice, me, Brian McMahon. Well, actually, M-Law is a two-person team, me and my assistant, Yvonne. We like to say, "We Move Mountains Every Day." In part, because one of my passions is high-altitude mountaineering. You might be thinking my other passion is the practice of law. "No," I'm not passionate about the practice of law. But I love being a lawyer because the practice of law is a means to my end. I'm passionate about helping my clients reach their goals and about protecting them against the risks they will inevitably encounter along the way. "Oh, so the practice of law is your other passion"? It might surprise you (or not) to learn, “no," I am not passionate about the practice of law. My other passion is my clients. Yeah, I know. It seems like you hear that a lot nowadays. Believe me or not, it matters to me not. Because I know who does believe me. My clients. I've been practicing law for 25 years and at least 50% of my clients have been with me for more than 15 years, more than a few have been with me for more than 20 years, 80% are referrals from my other clients and I am currently representing my third generation of family-owned businesses. I’ve been invited by clients, and attended, more graduations, weddings, christenings, baptisms than I can count; and more funerals than I care to remember. The best part of all this is, there have been times I’ve had to call on my clients for help, and help they do. They know, for a fact, that I will be there for them in the good times, when they can pay me, and the bad times, when they need to pay over time or can’t pay at all. Either way, they know I have their back and that, if necessary and with help from Yvonne, that I will “Move Mountains†if that is what they need me to do, or do nothing more than listen if that is what they need. I know. Enough already about how much I care. What you want to know is am I smart. Like most lawyers, “yes,†I am smart. I graduated at the top of my undergraduate class with a degree in Finance, I received a full-ride academic scholarship for all three years of law school, I was ranked No. 1 in my class for the first two years (Why not all three years? Five days before my third year, I fell four stories and broke my back, pelvis, hip, eleven ribs and collapsed a lung, but I still showed up for class the first day and graduated with honors), I was one of only 26 law school graduates from around the world accepted by Boston University to enter its International Banking LLM (i.e. Master of Law) program in 1992 and a bunch of other scholarships and academic awards, bla, bla, bla. But as far as I am concerned, the education that has helped me the most in my career (and in my life) I learned in the 3rd grade at Webster Grade School and was taught to me by Ms. Webster (RIP). That is where and when I learned don’t lie, own your mistakes and to try harder if you’re not making mistakes, be nice, help others, be respectful to everyone (especially those with different points of view), don’t steal, don’t judge because I don’t know what God knows, sometimes you have to fight and that a punch really doesn't hurt much or at least not for long anyway. But most importantly, I learned that there is literally only one thing I have that nobody, other than myself, can take from me - my word. If you are looking for a lawyer that cares more about you and your business than that practice of law and that is more than just a lawyer, give me a call.
