Made some dumb decisions involving a credit card, didn't pay it, and the debt got sent to them. Decided to finally be an adult and own up for my mistakes. Contacted them and they agreed on a repayment plan for a lower amount than what I initially owed without too much haggling. Just wish you guys would send a confirmation email when payments are made so I don't have to watch my account like a hawk and make sure the money got taken out. Overall agreeable and nice, helpful people on the phones.

Their process server came to my house to serve some legal documents and in their process of leaving they ran over the tip of my shoe thank goodness they didn't run over my foot. 911 was called and a police report was filed. Attempting to get a hold of these people to get the name of the individual so the Police can talk to them to see why they did what they did they refused to give me the necessary information. These people harbor fugitives shielding them from facing Justice. Thank goodness I was not injured but there was kids playing near the roadway by my home. One of those kids could have been struck and killed with their reckless driving.

In November 2021. I was received summons or something by this shady company! I already spoke to them about the amount their charges were not even close. I went down to court and requested a Judge to review and four years later never heard from court. Due to Covid . I called them many about court date. This is ridiculous. I had a stroke and lost my job after being diagnosed under disability! This law firm place a on my credit now they send letters. Texas Attorney General’s should do something about them.

If you’re dealing with Scott & Associates, P.C., it’s crucial to understand your rights as a consumer, especially under California law. Based on my experience, Scott & Associates engaged in questionable practices related to debt collection, which may have violated California’s Debt Collection Licensing Act (SB 908) and other consumer protection laws. Key Issues: Unlicensed Debt Collection Activities Scott & Associates, P.C. was not licensed to conduct debt collection activities in California until November 28, 2023 (DFPI License No. 12242-99). However, between January 1, 2022, and November 28, 2023, they allegedly engaged in the following activities without proper licensing: Filing lawsuits and pursuing debt collection on behalf of unlicensed debt buyers, such as LVNV Funding LLC. Attempting to collect debts that they were not legally authorized to handle. Failing to verify the licensing status of the debt buyers they represented, as required under SB 908. Failure to Validate Debts Scott & Associates failed to ensure that the debts they were collecting were valid and legally enforceable. They also failed to verify that the debt buyers they represented, such as LVNV Funding LLC, were properly licensed and authorized to collect in California during the unlicensed period. Improper Use of the Legal System The firm filed legal cases during the unlicensed period, potentially violating SB 908. Under California law, lawsuits filed by unlicensed entities may be void. Additionally, this includes: Filing complaints or summons that failed to meet statutory requirements. Failing to dismiss cases upon becoming aware of licensing deficiencies. What You Can Do: File a Complaint with the CFPB If you are dealing with Scott & Associates, submit your complaint to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and request that they communicate with you only through the CFPB portal. This ensures a documented and transparent process. Additional Complaint Channels: Consider filing complaints with the following organizations to hold Scott & Associates accountable: California Department of Financial Protection and Innovation (DFPI): This is especially important for California residents. California State Bar: If an attorney associated with Scott & Associates violated ethical or professional rules, file a complaint with the State Bar. Attorney General (AG): Notify your state’s AG office about potential violations. Local Consumer Protection Office: Contact your county’s consumer protection agency. Better Business Bureau (BBB): Raise awareness by submitting a complaint with the BBB. NMLS Consumer Portal: Use this portal to verify licensing and file a complaint if necessary. Seek Legal Counsel if You’ve Paid During the Unlicensed Period: If you paid Scott & Associates or their representatives between January 1, 2022, and November 28, 2023, you may have grounds to recover those payments. Contact a consumer rights attorney for assistance and verify their licensing status at the time of the transaction via the NMLS Consumer Access Portal. Know the Legal Rules in California: 6-Month Rule for Summons: According to California Code of Civil Procedure § 583.210(a), a summons must be served within six months of being filed. If a summons was not served within that time, it may be invalid. 3-Year Rule for Old Summons: Under California Code of Civil Procedure § 583.310, a summons and complaint must be served within three years of filing. Failure to comply may result in dismissal of the case. Your rights as a consumer matter, and laws like SB 908 exist to ensure fair treatment. Stay informed, use the appropriate channels for complaints, and consult legal counsel if you have paid Scott & Associates during their unlicensed period. Protect yourself and your financial future. This is by far the worst law firm in the world. Please file an official complaint with your State bar against any lawyer that works there and files a formal complaint against you as it's their job to know the law and not skirt around it. Filing a compliant takes less than 5 minutes!

Debt collectors are literally the worst kind of people. Obviously they can't be a real lawyer so they pry on people who are having a hard time making it. We had a lawyer already deal with our issues years ago but here they come suing us for something that we believed was already taken care of. I'd give ZERO stars if I could. ????????
