Had an excellent experience overall. Staff is pleasant and efficient- Brittany helped with scheduling, Cynthia at checkout and I think Jenny was the nurse - she in particular was great at picking up on and addressing anxiety that first appointments can bring. Dr Peterson was warm, empathic and explained every step and her thought process. Straight forward and proactive. I highly recommend this practice. No wait time and did not feel rushed.

I never leave bad reviews so this is my first. At 28 weeks, I left this OBGYN and went to another one (and it is such a blessing to have caring, competent people caring for me now). I’m surprised I lasted this long as every appointment I had here ended in tears. For something that was supposed to be a joyful experience for me, I found myself feeling anxious, uncared for, and my needs ignored. Feelings aside, the bedside manners at this office are lacking, especially from the doctor. Though I have many examples of negative experiences here, the final straw was being sent to a specialist in Birmingham without knowing the real reason why. After the specialist appointment a couple days later, the nurse called and asked if I had went yet and when I said yes, I had to explain the results (I have no clue why they did not check the paperwork first but it appeared uncaring to me). When I returned to Dr. Peterson’s in person, another nurse casually asked what the specialist had said and I explained that THEY should have the paperwork. They had still not even bothered to look at it. Then, finally seeing the doctor, she came in and said “How’s it going?” She did not even mention the visit to the specialist or the results. I decided at that point to just move on and ask if she could sign a physicians note for my maternity leave. She cut me off and snatched the papers from my hand, leaving the room saying “We do this all the time”. This upset me so much that I cried for hours and made up my mind never to go back. You can treat me poorly however you want but when it comes to my baby, he deserves better treatment and care. Of course, the papers returned to me via email were not filled out correctly and if she had given me a chance to speak, I could have explained what to do. Like I said at the beginning, I never leave bad reviews for people, but this impacted me so much that I felt the need to say something. I hope they improve and others have better experiences than me but I had to get myself out of this toxic environment.

I have been a patient of Dr. Petersen for 7 years now. She delivered both my children and I couldn’t have asked for a more down to earth, knowledgeable and caring Doctor to trust childbirth with! I continue to use her as my Gynecologist and recommend her to everyone l! I have horrible anxiety when it comes to doctor visits and she and her staff always make me feel super confident and comfortable!

Dr. Petersen delivered my daughter almost a decade ago but I still recommend her to everyone. Even though I’ve moved away, most of my family still sees her for regular care and absolutely love her. As a survivor of SA, she really cared about my birth plan and listened to my concerns/worries. She gave me an amazing birth experience and for that I will always thank her. She also delivered my two nephews! Wonderful woman!

PRACTICE CLOSING, NOT ACCEPTING NEW PATIENTS Apparently she's closing her practice and not accepting new patients. I was informed of this the day of my appointment while I was in the waiting room. "Dr. Petersen is closing her practice and can't see you today" like what? You're not going to give me any notice and just have me drive 40 minutes to an appointment and not see me? So unprofessional and weird.
