Had a very frustrating closing with this law firm. They ordered the incorrect information from the HOA/Management one business day before my settlement day was set, for which I received a bill of $475. They were unable to confirm why this was so high, and why previously (our first deal didn't cross the finish line) the documents ordered to close on the same house were only $200. I just had to pay it because time was of the essence, but eventually they admitted mistakes were made (but did not take responsibility, just that something was erronious), and that it was actually supposed to be $200. At the closing, they had my name spelled incorrectly on documentation, and also neglected to have a $995 fee on the HUD, which is a pretty significant amount of money to leave off. They didn't have the final numbers for the HOA/management company fees, either, so they told me they'd send me an updated HUD the next day. When it came, I then saw they were CHARGING me (not crediting me) for NEW paperwork from the HOA, for $350? Suddenly it cost $350 (not $200?) and after asking for a breakdown of those fees, it came to light they passed a $100 rush fee on to me after their mistakes?! The absolute nerve! My real estate agent discussed with them and they eventually agreed to cover the $100 fee, but they never once apologized nor took any responsibility.
