NOT RECOMMENDED. Mr. Rhodes and his firm "helped" my parents write a trust and power of attorney. Unfortunately, they failed our family miserably by not anticipating the possibility of one of my parents being alive and yet unable to coordinate their financial affairs. This is not "rocket science" in this day and age that many people live quite a long time and may face challenges of this nature. Litigation and family problems ensued, that were both costly and bitter. I do not blame Mr. Rhodes for my family's massive disfunction, but good lawyering would anticipate common problems such as one spouse dying before the other, the possibility of physical or mental disabilities including but not limited to Alzheimer's type dementia, and the inability of adult children to not get along. Having multiple children "enabled" via POA / Guardianship documents was a major source of conflict. These problems were anticipated in only the most perfunctory of ways in the legal documents; no real conversation was ever provoked among the family, yet it is to the legal team (who should have years experience anticipating these scenarios) upon whom we depended. They failed our family. Because both the revised trust and power of attorney were so poorly thought-out, our family endured a very costly and bitter legal battle. The dollar cost was significant; the emotional toll on the family immeasurable. Good lawyering would have prevented this. Scenarios can be envisioned as we are not the first family in America to have parents with money pass away, nor the first to face challenges of disabilities of both physical and mental in nature, nor the first to face inter-sibling conflict over money. I STRONGLY do NOT recommend Mr. Rhodes or his firm for ANY type of estate planning or other work. There are many other attorneys in Tulsa, and I STRONGLY recommend that you consider them and, if you are planning an estate or trust, that you be proactive on scenarios such as one spouse dying first, one spouse having a physical problem, one spouse suffering from dementia, children not getting along, etc.; these scenarios can be conceptualized in advance and a good trust and POA would anticipate these. A good lawyer would warn you of such scenarios, as they should see these coming (you are not, obviously, their first client). Money can bring out the worst in people, as my family has experienced, and the poorly thought-out process created by this law firm made a very bad situation even worse. Very very sad for our family and very very bitter. Good lawyering might have made a significant difference in the outcome, but this law firm failed our family 110%.
