Reviews

Excellent law firm. Professionals and staff are highly competent and real-world oriented. Have practice areas in virtually all areas of business and personal activities.
Karl Protil is a terrible attorney. Horrible communication and that office moves slow as snails. When my daughter passed (Oct 15) we notified him the NEXT day so his office could pull the remainder of her records. They were not even requested until the beginning of November (something like the 6th-ish) but the hospital couldn't send them out because they hadn't been paid for! I tried to pay for them myself but the hospital wouldn't allow it since I wasn't the one requesting them. The records didn't get paid for til around Nov 17th!! December 13th he said he had the records and would begin the process of reviewing them and hopefully have it done in 2-3 weeks. Jan 15, 2018 I check in and he says, "We have the records, but need to complete our review and see what an expert says about the case. I hope to be back to you with our initial review within the next 14-21 days." So again, waiting. All the while not getting any communication between these periods of time. Feb 19 I check in again, only to find out KARL PROTIL doesn't even have an expert yet reviewing the records!! This whole time he indicated they were being reviewed and they were just sitting!! Awful, awful service and communication!!
After being involved in a major car crash, I had no idea where to turn and my family and I felt overwhelmed not only by my injury, but everything else as well. We were fortunate enough to know a couple of lawyers in an unrelated field and when we asked them to suggest someone that we could talk to, they recommended Shulman Rogers. We are really glad that they did.nnWe worked with Mike Nakamura and Jessica Baker and found them to be fantastic. They met with us at the start of the process to go over everything and communicated with us regularly throughout the period that followed. Whenever we had a question, no matter how inane, they were not only happy to help us with it, but were incredibly quick to do so as well. Moreover, whenever new developments arose in case, they contacted us immediately.nnThere were a number of additional dimensions that I would like to highlight as to why we were so thrilled and grateful for the help that they gave us. First, they clearly had a very strong knowledge about everything and we could see this through how they negotiated on our behalf with the insurance company of the other driver. When the insurance company made an initial low-ball offer, Mike engaged with them very constructively and professionally, but he was also knew in what ballpark we should be looking (based upon previous cases, industry norms, etc) and was able to negotiate with them on the basis to obtain a more appropriate figure. I have no doubt that we would have had neither the knowledge nor the nerve to do that by ourselves. Second, they helped us to navigate all of the hurdles regarding the huge number of bills that were sent to us by all of the different emergency services and healthcare providers that we had interacted with as part of the aftermath of the crash, with Jessica fielding all of them directly and making our lives infinitely better as a result. Third, they always provided us with advice and suggestions, but never pressured us to do anything, which led us to feel both informed but also fully empowered when making decisions. nnOverall, I would highly recommend both Shulman Rogers and Mike Nakamura and Jessica Baker in particular. They were professional, pleasant, responsive, and ultimately very effective. Throughout the process, we had total peace of mind and, ultimately, achieved a settlement that we were very happy with. A big thumbs up and thank you for all of their work.
MIKE NAKAMURA AND JESSICA BAKER ARE THE BEST OF THE BEST!nnI am writing to provide an account of my experience with Shulman, Rogers, (et al) PA, and specifically the legal team of Mr. Mike Nakamura and Ms. Jessica Baker. There are simply no better advocates out there for those of us who have suffered through a horrific, life-threatening automobile collision. Mr. Nakamura's team provided not only stellar legal advice, but they also assisted me through the confusing world of post-incident legal and administrative maneuvers, and supported me though the difficult and emotionally-draining days that lay ahead.nnApproximately eighteen months ago I was involved in a devastating, head-on collision with another vehicle, each of us traveling close to the posted speed limit of 50 mph. I suffered head and hand injuries, as well as several broken teeth. Miraculously, both I and the other driver were able to escape further long-term incapacitating injuries or death.nI was referred to attorney Mike Nakamura and his team at Shulman, Rogers by a colleague in law enforcement. I was immediately impressed by their offer to come to me for the client introductory meeting, should I be hospitalized or too debilitated to drive to them. In the subsequent meeting with Mike Nakamura and his legal assistant, Jessica Baker, I continued to be impressed by their level of expertise, knowledge of the legal system, and their absolute compassion. It wasn't an act to try to land a new client; if anything, they gave even more of themselves as the case progressed. They listened to my input, and adapted their case as needed. nnJessica Baker, Mike's legal assistant, kept in touch with me almost every day for the majority of the case. She was the primary contact with the other driver's insurance company to ensure I had a rental car, that the medical bills were addressed, and that all of my questions were answered immediately. She provided the buffer I needed between the insurance companies and myself, held my hand when I needed it, and gave me space when I needed room to breathe.nnMy case was not a million-dollar payday for them; nor was it a high-profile case. Regardless, Mike and Jessica made me feel as if I was their top client, and in fact, their only client.nnPersonal injury law, especially that involving vehicular incidents, is not easy to understand; it is complex, and requires interaction with professionals whose only job is to discredit the victim and minimize their own client's liability. It would have been impossible to reach a satisfactory agreement without the experts Mike Nakamura and Jessica Baker in my corner. They were able to negotiate the maximum settlement with minimal impact on my recovery and time.nnIn my career, I am required to testify in court, frequently opposed by the area's best criminal defense attorneys. In twenty-one years, I have never once found myself nervous prior to or during a court case when on the stand. There is no doubt in my mind that should I find myself on the wrong side of Mr. Nakamura in a court case, I would be terrified. He has such presence, has such a firm grasp of the law and regarding the facts of my case in particular, and possesses self-confidence that would intimidate even the most seasoned investigator or opposing counsel. Should you ever find yourself in a courtroom with Mike Nakamura, you had best hope you are sitting at the same table as him.nnIn short, if you are looking for an attorney to represent you following an accident, look no farther than Mike Nakamura. He and Jessica Baker are the best of the best.
Dealt with three different attorneys all very knowledgeable and professional.
