Joel represented my boyfriend during his divorce proceedings. Joel was CONSISTENTLY very difficult to get ahold of, sometimes taking weeks to return contact on time sensitive issues. On the occasions he sent associates in his place to court, they were completely unprepared, and weren't even familiar with my boyfriend's case. This failure to adequately represent my boyfriend unnecesssarily dragged out what should have been a simple divorce from a short term marriage with no children or assets in common, costing my boyfriend EXORBITANTLY more in legal fees and temporary financial support than he should have ever had to pay. I've worked closely with attorneys for decades, both in my own business and personal affairs. I've also been through my own contentious divorce. I know what competent representation looks like, and this doesn't even come close. I don't doubt Mr. Spitzer's intelligence or ability to actually do his job. I do, however, question whether he cares about his clients whatsoever. It was so bad, I've encouraged my bf to file a complaint with the state bar.

I wanted to leave a comment in regards to the service provided by attorney Joel Spitzer. We hired Joel at the last minute for my son's criminal case. He answered right away and jumped straight into things. He kept us informed of everything that was happening and what was expected to happen. We never had a problem reaching him and in fact he made himself available during times most would consider after hours. I was extremely pleased with the service offered and Joel's efforts to handle things quickly,professionally, and him taking the time to make himself reachable and available to us.
