Throughout my entire case, they were there with me, answering every email, call and text. I used Abel in a custody situation. At first I was told Abel sr Would be representing me. Then I was told Abel Jr. Abel recommended to submit a judgement to set aside and said he would be emailing the judge and her secretary to request for a the previous order be put aside. Almost 4 months past and through this I was reassured we were in the time frame to set aside orders. I even got served from opposing counsel on motion of enforcement, as I was not releasing my child to non custodial because I was waiting for that motion to be put aside. During the 4 months I called. Emailed. Asked why it was taking so long. I finally called and said something needed to be done. Abel set a hearing for the following week. I questioned him as to why that couldn’t be done before instead of sending emails. When we were on our court zoom call opposing counsel argued we were not in our time frame anymore to ask for judgement to set aside standard order. The judge agreed with opposing counsel. Abel did not know the time frame needs to put the judgement in. His lack of knowledge resulting in my child going with her father without a step up plan on order, she is 3 and had no contact with him prior. I asked for my retainer back via email and I received no response. I trusted him to handle the situation and thought he had the knowledge of legal procedures and their time sensitive deadlines. He didn’t. Update! Wow the office responded to my review in less than 30 min but gave no response to my email requesting my retainer back. In answer to your response, I asked abel jr if I could reschedule as their was a death in my family, and he said they should be no problem, I have the email. The point is as soon as I said something needs to be set now he immediately set another hearing and said we could wait to see if the judge accepts it. That could have been done within the 4 months instead of emailing the judge who was a fill in judge. No matter what I was assured within the 4 months we were still within the time frame needed to request the motion to set aside. It took 7 min in a zoom hearing for opposing to say we were legally out of time. Thanks for the overdue response though.
