Was taken aback by the recent “Cease & Desist” letter from Jeffrey Woods. It is clear to us that your deceptive client, Mara Conley of Mara Cleaning Services, was NOT honest with you by withholding pertinent information. According to the CMPD and Sheriff Department complaints we filed, Mara and her staff stole just over $18,000 in cash from our 2nd floor master bedroom walk-in closet. They were the only ones with access to our 2nd floor closet (where they vacuum the carpet) shortly after we last saw the cash. My mother-in-law left this money for us upon her death, in 18 bank envelopes with ten $100 bills in each envelope. The coins mentioned in your letter were simply Eisenhower half dollars stored in a plastic tube. Once we shockingly (made us sick to our stomachs) discovered the cash had been taken, we texted and telephoned Mara to alert her to our discovery AND request that she return the cash or else we would be forced to notify the police. After a moment of denying the theft, Mara coldly stated “You don’t have any security cameras in your bedroom to prove that I stole your money.” What??? That statement convinced us that she was clearly guilty of breaking our trust by stealing this large sum of money from our home. On the advice of an attorney, we gave this petite lady thief several opportunities through text messages to return our money, and in exchange, we would be willing to withdraw our complaints with CMPD and the Sheriffs Department. We would also terminate our Civil Lawsuit which the CMPD detective suggested we pursue. This grand larceny by Mara was also a devastating blow to the quasi friendship we developed with Mara over the eight (8) years she cleaned our home. Sadly, we know that the pandemic hurt Mara’s cleaning business because she told us so and she asked to borrow money, and to send it through Zell, to help pay her rent. We prayed for her to overcome her regularly poor health (smoker) and for her business to survive the pandemic. We have since prayed for her to return our stolen cash, coins, and my wife’s precious dark gray Rosary beads. McGuire Woods of Charllotte and more specifically Kenneth Bell has got to be the worst law firm in the entire U.S. This dude was appointed as a receiver for the Zeek Rewards program to "Protect" the innocent and all he's done is confiscate the funds and run up his bill. He took uncashed money orders and checks and instead of sending them back to the "Innocent" he cashed them and hasn't even accounted for the money. Where's my deposit Kenneth? Are you ever going to send out the money or are you going to use it all up with your maneuvering fees. NOW WHO IS the VICTIM? This outfit should be disbarred from "practicing" law...
McGuire Woods LLC (Mr. Ken Bell) has done the unmentionable. His actions in seizing our monies has created major heartship in many, many families. I consider myself a victim caused by his actions. I have worked very hard to build my ZEEK business and was to retire at the time Mr Bell and his firm stepped in and crushed my families dreams. I can't see the justice in any of his actions. Give our money back to us Mr. Bell and stop squandering our money on your (questionable costs).
The fact that Mr. Bell has decided to declare that we are victims without looking into the Zeek business model to decide if it was a Ponzi or not tells us that his interest may be implicated. I feel that the best way out of this will be to go to court and present the fact about the business practice of Zeek and see who is creating the victims Zeek or the receiver. Let's talk about in court and see where we at. It is not fair until the facts are presented and discussed. The way that this firm is handling this business shows not justice whatsoever. If you are that convinced that you can show that it is a ponzi, lets go show it in court.
