Michael Cohen got me through the most difficult situation of my life. An international abduction / retention of my 3 year old daughter by her mother with a petition under the Hague Convention of the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction is a very technical process, and Mr. Cohen’s years of experience and familiarity with these types of cases as well as his depth of experience in Federal court procedures won the day. Above everything else I could say about Mr Cohen, he is an absolute strategist who did not let his own ego (or mine) get in the way of a favorable outcome for my daughter and for me. It was down to the morning of the trial, but the defendant and I came to an agreement which Mr. Cohen negotiated on my behalf. When he and the opposing counsel returned to the courtroom after the brief recess, I got the sense that the other lawyer was “licking her wounds” so to speak. Mr. Cohen and his paralegal (soon to be associate and surely eventually a partner) Gabriela Suarez ended up with more of a fight than anyone could have expected, but they handled themselves with utter professionalism and legal aptitude. Thanks to their monumental efforts, my little girl celebrated her 4th birthday here at home with me in Costa Rica after her successful repatriation.
