I felt like she failed to understand what I hoped to accomplish from the legal process. Instead, during a very emotional time, I deferred to her to guide me through the process...thinking she would have my best interests at heart. Instead, I felt like she was very aggressive in her strategy, which angered my ex wife and her attorney. I simply wanted a fair agreement and to make sure my daughter was taken care of......money was not important to me at all. And, in the end I proved that by giving up everything to keep my daughter in NC. I could have walked into court, said I want to give my ex wife everything, and I would have been better off having not hired Deb Dilman as my attorney. I felt like I received NO VALUE for what I paid for her services.I felt like I paid a lot of money for Deb Dilman to learn on my dime. If you want to work with a typical lawyer....go to the Tom Bush Law. Group. From my experience - make sure your lawyer knows that you are in charge and that he/she works for you. Have a great idea about what you want to accomplish in the end because lawyers do not have hearts and do not mind dragging the process out in favor of exorbitant fees. Fortunately, we normally only go through a divorce once. Unfortunately, it's very difficult to know whether you are hiring the right person to help you during one of the most vulnerable times of your life. Speak to family, speak to friends, speak top coworkers, and interview multiple lawyers........that's my advice so that you do not have to have the same experience I did. I had a house fire, a divorce, a lost company, and a baby girl on the way all at the same time.......I'm a loving father, and I now have a great relationship with my ex wife as we co-parent my 5 year old daughter. The legal process was the worst part....and, it didn't have to be!
