Questions & Answers

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

Father of a minor child came to me because the mother had moved to another state with the child and could not care for the child. The child was going to end up in Foster care because the father had never established paternity. I was able to facilitate the father getting custody of the child and returning the child to California. In a bankruptcy case, a couple that made a good income had overextended themselves and the financial stress was causing health issues. We filed a Chapter 13 bankruptcy which gave them relief from their creditors and the payment was manageable for them.

How did you build a successful practice?

Word of mouth referrals are the best form of advertising. My clients are satisfied with the work that I have done on their cases and have referred friends, family and co-workers to me. I would not have a successful practice if my clients were not satisfied.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

Experience and honesty are the best things to look for in a lawyer. Many lawyers will tell the client what they think they want to hear - even if they cannot get the outcome the client wants. They simply take the money and then say "sorry".

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?

Each court has their own local procedures and each Judge operates in a different way. Having a good reputation with the Judge may give an edge in some matters. Knowledge of the local procedures ensures that the case moves along smoothly.

What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?

Generally, a phone consultation will allow me to assess whether or not the potential client has a case. I can provide some general information to let the potential client know his options. If the potential client wishes to move forward, I can schedule an office visit.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?

I am accessible and responsive. My clients can always reach me by phone or e-mail.
