Joined Montgomery, Barnett's Gulfport office in 2002. Graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg (B.S., Finance) in 1975, and the American University Law School in Washington, D.C. (J.D., 1979). Upon graduation, Mr. Simpson was employed as a trial attorney in the AntiTrust Division of the United States Department of Justice where he dealt with electric power, airlines, trucks and other regulated utilities and industries. He was later employed as Vice President of Land & Legal Affairs for Guaranty Exploration Corporation, an independent oil and gas exploration firm. Mr. Simpson returned to private practice in 1989 where he concentrated in the areas of real estate, bankruptcy, commercial and civil litigation, general corporate law, oil and gas matters, federal criminal defense, and domestic relations. He also serves as Board Attorney for the Long Beach School District, and as City Attorney for the City of Long Beach.

In 1994, Mr. Simpson was elected to the Mississippi House of Representatives for District 120. He was reelected in 1995 and 1999, and currently serves as Chairman of the Local and Private Committee, and is a member of the Judiciary A, Insurance, Public Utilities, and Ways and Means Committees. He also serves on the Joint Legislative Committee on Compilation, Publication, and Revision of Legislation. Mr. Simpson is a charter member of the Mississippi Legislative Conservative Coalition, and is also named as a Delegate to the Council of State Governments, the National Conference of State Legislators, and the American Legislative Exchange Council.
