Mr. Bartzen has substantial experience in representing transactional business and real estate clients, as well as related litigation experience.

Business.  In business, he represents a wide variety of small to large sized companies in all aspects of their operations, including acquisitions and sales.  He is a frequent lecturer and writer on business law, and regularly participates in teaching a Small Business Tax Expo class for the University Wisconsin Small Business Development Center.  Mr. Bartzen works with corporations, limited liability companies, limited partnerships, limited liability partnerships, and general partnerships in their organization, start up, operation and wind down phases.

Real Estate.  In real estate, Mr. Bartzen also represents a wide variety of property owners, users, and developers.  He formerly acted as in-house real estate counsel to Family Dollar Stores in Charlotte, North Carolina.  He represents large developers as well as individual house purchasers and sellers.  Mr. Bartzen advises on tax and other aspects of real estate sales and purchases as well as division of land and local regulation.  He also advises on issues of boundary disputes, easements, government regulation and private use agreements.  He also drafts a wide variety of real estate related agreements such as land contracts, shared drive agreements, and sales agreements.

Other.  Mr. Bartzen's skill set also allows him to work in other areas.  As former Governor Tommy G. Thompson's Assistant and Chief Legal Counsel, he works in a variety of government related areas.  As a music major and performer from Lawrence Conservatory, he also works in the entertainment field and practices copyright and trademark law.  Finally, Mr. Bartzen also advises clients in small to medium estate planning cases.
