About Jessica
Following law school, I served as law clerk to the Honorable Karl Forester, then Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky. I later worked in the Labor & Employment Practice Group at Dinsmore & Shohl, LLP. I started a solo practice in 2007, and have enjoyed an Of-Counsel relationship with The Getty Law Group since that time. In 2015, I was appointed to the panel of attorneys selected to represent individuals on criminal appeals before the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals under the Criminal Justice Act.
My practice focuses generally on business services and commercial litigation, with emphasis on small business development, employment law, class action litigation, appeals, and personal injury. I have extensive federal and state court litigation experience in complex cases and class actions. I also have worked with corporate organizational issues, provided day-to-day guidance for employers on a variety of employment issues, drafted employee handbooks and policies, and have represented employers and employees in connection with EEOC & unemployment claims. I am also active in the labor and employment law section of the Kentucky Bar Association and lecture several times a year on employment related topics. I am a certified mediator and am listed as an Approved General Civil Mediator on the Kentucky Court of Justice Mediation Roster. I have mediated both civil and criminal matters.
I am a member of the Kentucky Bar Association and the Fayette County Bar Association, and I am a Founding Fellow of the Fayette County Bar Foundation. I served for several years on the Board of Directors of the Bluegrass Trust for Historic Preservation, and on Lexington Mayor Jim Gray’s economic development task force in 2010. In 2009, I was featured as one of Lexington’s Leading Women in business in the Business Lexington publication. In 2011, I co-founded Lexington’s annual street art festival, PRHBTN, and through this organization I have worked to bring more than 20 world-renown artists to Lexington to create public art through the installation of large-scale murals.
Community involvement and helping others through my legal work are my core values. I believe I have the experience and knowledge necessary to meet your needs.
