About Joanna

Joanna McCracken works primarily as a litigator focusing on domestic and family law matters, including divorce, child custody, spousal and child support, pre- and post-nuptial agreements, parental rights, and adoption. She is the recipient the American Institute of Family Law Attorneys’ 10 Best for Client Satisfaction Award of 2015. In addition to domestic work, Ms. McCracken defends and prosecutes general litigation cases arising from premises and product liability, and handles disputes, negotiations, and transactions in the real estate and entertainment industries.

Ms. McCracken brings a wealth of life experience to her legal practice. Prior to practicing law, she worked on Nashville’s Music Row in music publishing and copyright administration. Ms. McCracken also spent time actively involved in Middle Tennessee’s real estate business including holding a real estate broker’s license. Her prior careers have uniquely positioned Ms. McCracken to advise her domestic clients regarding real and intellectual property issues during divorce.  

Ms. McCracken earned her Juris Doctorate from the Nashville School of Law where she was the recipient of several scholarship awards. Ms. McCracken earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in African Studies in 1998 from London University’s School of Oriental and African Studies, with a major in the Swahili language. Ms. McCracken is originally from London, England; she travelled extensively, including through many countries in Africa and Europe, before settling in the United States in 2002.
