About Joel
Joel J. Bellows is the Founder and Managing Principal of Bellows and Bellows, P.C. He represents clients involved in business litigation. Mr. Bellows offers counseling, transactional, and litigation services to business clients ranging from entrepreneurs, small and medium-sized businesses, to large corporations.
Mr. Bellows' experience in complex commercial litigation includes a focus on regulated securities and commodity futures disputes. He has successfully represented clients in state, federal and appellate courts and in arbitration, mediation and regulatory proceedings before the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (formerly known as the National Association of Securities Dealers), National Futures Association, Commodity Futures Trading Commission, Chicago Board of Trade and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.
Currently a Ph.D. Candidate in Cognitive Political Economy at the University of Chicago's Harris School of Public Policy, Mr. Bellows is examining behavioral law and political economy to better understand how people and institutions view their interests and determine their optimal course of action. This line of inquiry provides an enhanced quantitative perspective to Mr. Bellows' litigation and business skills. The result is keen insight on how to best counsel business clients and develop innovative approaches to complex business problems.
Mr. Bellows received his J.D. (Tax) from the John Marshall Law School. He received his M.B.A. from the University Of Chicago Graduate School Of Business and his M.P.P. from the University Of Chicago Harris School Of Public Policy. He is admitted to practice in the States of California and Illinois, before the U. S. Courts of Appeal in the Second, Seventh and Ninth circuits and in trial courts across the U.S. Mr. Bellows is a member of the California State, Illinois State, Chicago and American Bar Associations.
