About John
John C. Johnson is now a resident of Lawrence, Kansas after living in Hillsboro, Kansas for over 30 years. John graduated from Washburn University School of Law and has been in practice since 1972. For over 30 years he practiced as a sole practitioner in Hillsboro working on cases involving family law, criminal law, wills, estates, and bankruptcy. Working in a small county in central Kansas, as one of only a handful of attorneys, John also handled many other areas of law. For a period of time John served as the Marion County Attorney and was President of the Marion County Bar for many years. He also served as President and Treasurer of Kiwanis in Hillsboro.
Prior to starting his own law firm, John worked with the Kansas Attorney General's office, in Topeka, Kansas. In 2006, when the opportunity became available, he closed his office in Hillsboro and moved to Lawrence to open a practice with his daughter, Joni C. Johnson.
Now, John enjoys practicing criminal law and bankruptcy, as well as handles all of the estate planning matters. He is a member of the Kansas Bar Association, Douglas County Bar Association, Douglas County Criminal Bar, and Kansas Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
